Stark. the Series. This series is simply pure abstract pyrography. It is simple a exercise in weight/balance and sometimes whit! The title is everything! There is a sense of dry humor in some of these titles. If I had to summarize this Series I would say it relates the often stark reality of my experience living in Toronto. At first glance everything looks friendly balanced and inviting, but at closer look you realize its often quite stark! The pains and joys of living in a large northern Metropolis :) This STARK series is filled with minimal vertical and horizontal lines. These lines in my art were once inspired by mission style stained glass and some arts and craft furniture design. over the years it has taken on a life of its own. This abstractification has eventually come to Symbolizing the vertical and horizontal lines of development consumption and industry. To me this could be everything from Wi-Fi to the vertical and horizontal lines of Modern skyscrapers and the electrical wires that stream across the world. In some landscape pieces these lines take on the form of clouds, smoke or Pollution, in this series it is much more abstractified. You can see this progression in many of my pieces including my early Factory life Series and Japanese micro home series and some of my landscape pieces including (Our new Ontario landscape , Consumption!) 1'by8'
For a more Dynamic experience, try to experience yourself as one of the balls, lines or chairs after reading the title of the piece.
You may even feel Dizzy or claustrophobic:) maybe warm and fuzzy:)
